New Discovery

If you have never been to Earshot downtown, you must go. I went out with a friend this evening and after we had dinner we ventured downtown to check out Earshot. We had both heard it was a pretty cool place to hang out. For one, it has a great atmosphere. It's got a cozy, homey feeling. The big plus, at least for me, is that you can get coffee - and, GOOD coffee. Hence the reason I'm blogging at 1:30 in the morning on a worknight. If you don't really have a lot of money to spend or just want to "chill out," this is a great place to go. On one side, they have a typical music store. On the other side, they have a coffee/wine bar (plus a few food items) and a variety of seating areas, each seat with their own computer screen & earphones. You can browse thousands & thousands of artists, albums, and songs. You can add songs to a burn list and burn your own compilation CDs. It is $9.99 for 5 songs, which sounds high, but each additional song is $0.99 each. So, by the time you get a good selection of songs on your list, you've actually gotten many more songs for the money than what you would get in the store. You can also burn complete albums - a lot cheaper than in the store, for the most part. We spent several hours there and it was so relaxing and enjoyable. They are open every day of the week. M-W until 10pm, Th-F until 1am, Sa until 12pm (I think they actually mean 12am) and Sunday didn't list a particular closing time. They're on Coffee Street, just off of Main Street. They're directly across the street from Corner Pocket. So, if you're looking for a relaxing evening, with or without friends, this is a great place to go grab a cup of java and listen to some tunes. Check it out.
