A Music Nerd, Like Me

I've seen this video floating around lately and decided to check it out. "Love Story" by Taylor Swift and "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay are two of my favorite songs and this guy (Jon Schmidt) is performing an AWESOME version combining the two. Check it out. For a music nerd, like me . . . it's AMAZING!

Rockin' Tunes

My current favorite album is Kelly Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted. I've liked her since her days on American Idol. Her first two albums were great. Her last one was a little questionable for me, but this latest album may, in my opinion, be her best one yet. She performed on Saturday Night Live last night and did an awesome job. I LOVE that she's real - mainly that she's not a size 2 and doesn't apologize for it. And, she's a powerhouse singer, for sure. Here are some clips from her performances on SNL.

What An Inspiration

There aren't many 'reality' TV shows I watch anymore. Quite frankly, they've all gotten just a tad too silly & ridiculous for my taste. But, I do love America's Got Talent. It is better this year than it ever has been. There have been great acts each week, but did anyone happen to see the 9-year old little boy, David, who is autistic, perform this week? If not, I've posted the YouTube video below. I'll admit, I sobbed like a baby just hearing his story, but when he opened his mouth & sang so beautifully, that just sent me into hysterics. I have worked with autistic children before & one of my best friend's nephew is autistic. I have seen how difficult it is on the child and their families. What an inspiration this precious little boy is to not only us but to all those who have been diagnosed with autism and their families. I must say, I'm rootin' for him!!!

I may post some other acts that I've really loved in another post, but this one deserved a post all on its' own. ENJOY!!!
Love,

And the WINNER is . . . DAVID!!!

And the WINNER is . . . DAVID!!!  David Cook, that is!  I am beyond thrilled!  After watching 7 seasons of American Idol, my pick from the very start finally won the title!!!  I just love him!  I  think he's an awesome singer who seems very humble & grateful for the opportunity he's been given.  I think he has big things ahead for him and I hope he stays exactly the same!  I loved him from the beginning and fell more in love with him with each passing week.  Here are some of my favorite performances from the season and just a few of the reasons I just can't get enough of him . . .

Mercy . . . did I mention  that I LOVE him?!!  He is just awesome & I can't wait until he has an album out!!  I could listen to him 24/7!!!  This season, by far, has been the most talented, in my opinion.  This is an American Idol tour that I wouldn't mind seeing.  Unfortunately, they're not touring in my city.  :-(

Tonight, David Cook sang with ZZ Top,which was one of my daddy's favorite bands.  Daddy soooooo would've loved this performance.  Here it is . . . it was pretty dang AWESOME!!!!

ROCK ON, DAVID . . . ROCK ON!!!!

Another AWESOME performance on tonight's finale was David Archuleta singing Apologize with One Republic.  Check it out!!!

Be Encouraged

I've been shoveling A LOT of crap lately and it's not been easy! But, at church today, I was reminded that I am NEVER alone because Jesus Christ is my Savior! We were never promised a bed of roses or a perfect life, but we are promised that He will never let go of us! We sang a song this morning that just spoke to my heart. I think it is so profound and encouraging, so I thought I would post the lyrics here in hopes that someone else can be encouraged.

"Never Let Go" by Matt Redman

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

Your perfect love is casting out fear

And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life

I won’t turn back

I know You are near

And I will fear no evil

For my God is with me

And if my God is with me

Whom then shall I fear?

Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:

Oh no, You never let go

Through the calm and through the storm

Oh no, You never let go

In every high and every low

Oh no, You never let go

Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on

A glorious light beyond all compare

And there will be an end to these troubles

But until that day comes

We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Chorus:

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on

And there will be an end to these troubles

But until that day comes

Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

I walked out of church today encouraged & knowing that God WILL take care of me! Here is a YouTube video of this song, so you can hear it, too!!!

Isn't that just beautiful??!! With that, I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend & that the coming week will be great!
Be encouraged,

Movies Worth Seeing (More than Likely)

Just a lazy Saturday, so I thought I'd check out some movie trailers (those that are already in theatres or are coming soon). They vary across the board - from animated to suspense. They will play back-to-back OR you can arrow through them OR you can see them on the menu to the right of the viewer. One tip: Be sure the volume on the player is turned up, as well as the volume on your compter!

Have you seen any good movies at the theatre lately? Seen any trailers for upcoming movies that look good to you? Hope you've had a good day & that the rest of your weekend will be great!

Children Are So Precious

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the cooler (if you call 90 degrees cooler) weather. I'm thankful for the rain we got overnight. We desperately needed it! I had a jam packed weekend with Bubby and will share about that in another blog. I just wanted to post a video that I received via email that was too precious not to share. This little girl is just so smart & cute. Precious are the little children . . .

Engagements & More Movie Trailers

I received an email today from my childhood friend, Keri. We grew up together in church & were basically inseparable. Her family was always an 'extended' family to me. They moved away when we were in high school and it made me so sad. Keri was in NC for a long time, but is now back in SC (has been for a while). She recently got ANOTHER promotion with her job and moved from Charleston back to the Columbia area. It's probably been a year and a half or so since I've seen her, but we keep in touch via email, cards, etc. She has found the love of her life, Josh, and they are engaged to be married in April. I am soooooooo excited & happy for her!!! Congrats girlie - - - I love you!!!

Most of you know I've been under the weather & have to go see an ENT because I've just been having such a difficult time with my throat, etc. Hopefully I won't have to have surgery or anything. So, I've been cooped up in this house for a week now and am about to go stir crazy. Just been doing a little work from home, getting some rest, watching some tv, surfing the net, etc.

Here are a few more trailers for movies that are coming out soon and I'd like to see. ENJOY!!!

Sickness STINKS & New Movies are GREAT!!!

First off, being sick STINKS!!!!

I have been cooped up in this house since Thursday night and am just about to go insane! I hate feeling trapped! I hate being sick even MORE! I felt horrible all last week, went to the doctor on Wednesday and still feel terrible. Went back to the doctor today! It seems my upper respiratory infection has now decided it wants to turn into bronchitis + I have strep throat now, too. I am now on round #2 of antibiotics. Oh boy, what fun!!!

So, I've been killing time this afternoon - reading blogs, surfing the net, etc. Someone on another blog posted about the new "National Treasure" movie coming out in December. It looks really good! Check out the trailer:

I think older kids, but mainly adults, would enjoy it, but here are a few more family oriented movies that are in theaters or are coming soon. You can play the trailers back to back below:

So, now that you've seen your 30 minutes of previews, don't show up for your next theater movie until about 30 minutes after the scheduled "start" time. See, by reading this blog, you saved 30 extra minutes. Aren't you lucky?! :-)

Until next time . . .

Have a GREAT week!
