Jennifer Means . . .

Saw this over at LindaNJake and thought it was interesting. Mine is pretty interesting & mostly accurate.

WHAT JENNIFER MEANS

You are fair, honest, and logical.

You are a natural leader, and people respect you.

You never give up, and you will succeed . . . even if it takes you a hundred tries.

You are rational enough to see every part of a problem.

You are great at giving other people advice.

You are friendly, charming, and warm.

You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat.

Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very intuitive and wise.

You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination.

You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy.

You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound.

It's easy to get you excited . . . which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly.

You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time.

Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are loving, compassionate, and ruled by your feelings.

You are able to be a foundation for other people . . . but you still know how to have fun.

Sometimes your emotions weigh you down, but you generally feel free from them.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel.

You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you.

You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

WHAT DOES YOUR NAME MEAN???

A Meme of Randomosity

You know I love a meme/survey and I found this one over at Are We There Yet Mom's blog, so . . . I just have to play along.  Here goes . . .

  1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn on page 18 and find line 4.  (i)  Consideration by the Supreme Court.  The petition will be considered . . . [From South Carolina Rules of Court]  I'm at work, so that's the only books I have around this place.
  2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can.  I can almost touch the handle on the storage closet door.
  3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?  Reba
  4. Without looking, guess what time it is?  11:00 a.m.
  5. Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?  11:14 a.m.
  6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?  Sirens on the interstate - our office building backs up to the interstate, so we hear a lot of this every day.
  7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?  About 20 minutes ago.  I went to get the mail.
  8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?  An e-mail from a client.
  9. What are you wearing?  Black pants, greenish shirt & black slide shoes.
  10. Did you dream last night?  Yes - - - all night long & CRAZY stuff!
  11. When did you last laugh?  About an hour ago - - - at my co-worker!
  12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?  Nothing except my wall calendar.
  13. Seen anything weird lately?  I see weird stuff all the time.
  14. What do you think of this quiz?  It's interesting.
  15. What is the last film you saw?  P.S., I Love You
  16. If you became a multimillionaire overnight, what would you buy?  I'd pay off debt first & then buy a condo/townhouse and a new car.
  17. Tell me something about you that I dunno.  I'm pretty much an open book, so there's not a whole lot people don't know about me, but . . . I have a huge fear of deep water!
  18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?  That nobody would be homeless or hungry and that everyone would have access to healthcare.
  19. Do you like to dance?  Not particularly.  Mainly because I'm NO good!!
  20. George Bush.  Has made some poor decisions that have greatly affected our country, but I still support him because he's our President.  It can always be worse, but I hope it will be better.
  21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?  Grayson Elyce has always been a name I've loved, but I've also considered Matilda (Mattie) Ann (these names were my grandmother's middle names).
  22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?  Austin James (in memory of my dad - - - James was his first name and Austin was his mom's maiden name)
  23. Would you ever consider living abroad?  Doubtful, but I wouldn't say 'never.'

Anyone who’d like to do this, consider yourself tagged. If you do, let me know so I can visit yours.

What Holiday Are You?

You Are Easter

You are an optimistic, hopeful, and genuinely sweet person.

Sensitive and affectionate, you are easily touched.

You love nature, animals, and anything cute or cuddly.

For you, every day is a new chance - no matter what happened yesterday.

What makes you celebrate: Almost anything. You love most holidays and celebrations.

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The peacemaker. You can prevent any squabbles that might break out.

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Remember to include everyone.

Crazy Eights

Just a little quiz/survey called CRAZY EIGHTS that I thought I'd do for tonight's post. It's been a rough day that didn't end any better, so I'm just not in the deep, thoughtful mood. So, enjoy!!

8 THINGS I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT

1) Jesus / Church - He is the reason I live each day. I am so blessed & cannot imagine what my life would be without Him. I am blessed to have finally found a church that I love!

2) Family - aside from Jesus, THE MOST important thing in my life

3) Friends - though TRUE ones are few & far between, the TRUE ones make up for the ones that aren't. I am blessed to have more than one TRUE friend in my life! You know who you are & I love all of you!

4) My job - as strange as it may seem that this made the list, I really am passionate about what I do. I can't imagine doing anything else. Sure, it has it's days, just like any other job, but I am truly blessed to work with & for people who are like family.

5) Scrapbooking - a new hobby I've discovered, but one that I have become very passionate about. It's a great way to preserve memories!! Plus, it's very therapeutic for me!

6) Children - even though I don't have any of my own, I have enough children in my life (my precious Bubby + friends' kids) to love. I love the honesty & innocence that children possess.

7) Blogging - another new "hobby" that I've started. I started a blog not too long after I lost my daddy to cancer. It has now become a great tool for me to express myself without judgment from others + it is a great way to look back & see how far you've come.

8) Honesty - without honesty (no matter how brutal), you cannot live a complete life. If you're lying to yourself or to someone else, you are incomplete as a person. Of course, this is MY opinion & I don't expect anyone to take my opinion as their own.

8 THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE

1) Travel - specifically to Greece, Ireland & Italy. I would also like to travel the U.S.

2) Overcome my fear of public speaking.

3) Take a photography class.

4) Meet the love of my life (*if that is God's will).

5) Have children (*if that is God's will).

6) Buy a home.

7) Be debt-free.

8) Lead someone to Christ.

8 THING I SAY OFTEN

1) Love ya.

2) Be careful.

3) It's was fun (because it almost always is).

4) Aunt Sissy loves you (because I do) - to Bubby.

5) Here's a newsflash (just a little snide remark I make a lot).

6) Holla (a greeting that's actually a joke between myself & my bestest friend).

7) Toodles (my version of "goodbye").

8) You kill me (because I have some of THE FUNNIEST friends & family on the planet).

8 THINGS I COULD LISTEN TO OVER AND OVER

1) Bubby - laughing, singing, talking (really doesn't matter).

2) The wind blowing - something about a nice breeze, especially in the fall.

3) Any song by Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and Josh Groban.

4) Lizzy (my "sister with fur") when she's trying to get attention - she almost "talks" and it's just HILARIOUS!

5) Violin, piano or flute.

6) Children laughing.

7) A message that is saved on my cell phone.

8) Claire - a friend at church - doing impersonations! She is one of THE FUNNIEST people I've ever met.

8 THINGS THAT ATTRACT ME TO MY FRIENDS

1) Honesty.

2) Sense of humor.

3) Trustworthy.

4) Loyalty.

5) Patience.

6) Knowing that they'll be there no matter what.

7) Similar interests.

8) Understanding.

8 PEOPLE THAT I GREATLY ADMIRE

1) My mom - she's been a great mom & has been through so much!! I admire her courage in dealing with my daddy's illness & death. Even through our differences, I know that I am loved.

2) My daddy - he was such a brave man. He never told me what I wanted to hear. He was always honest, even if it hurt. Even through our differences, I knew that I was loved.

3) My MaMa (grandmother) - I don't have enough room or time to put into words just how special she was. I always knew that I could turn to her. She was my best friend. When she died, I lost a part of myself.

4) My brother - he has worked really hard to better himself & he's a GREAT daddy to Bubby. I admire him for being a real man, stepping up to the plate & putting his child first.

5) My bestest friend, Shell - she is one of the most giving and compassionate people I know. She would take the shirt off of her back for anyone. She has done so many good things in her life. She is a wonderful friend, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, etc. If there were more people like her, the world would be a much better place.

6) My co-workers - My boss, Lee is one of the hardest workers I know. He puts everyone & everything above himself (not that I believe this is a good thing ALL the time). He truly cares about people. The entire firm (Lee, Steve & Jeannie) helped me through the darkest time in my life (the death of my daddy). I was NEVER made to choose between my family & my job and because of that I was able to spend the last few months of my daddy's life with him. Those are precious memories that would've never been made had it not been for such a wonderful group of people @ the firm & for that I am forever indebted to them.

7) My friend, Alison - she went through a very difficult situation in her life & has risen above it with compassion, forgiveness & understanding.

8) Soldiers (for obvious reasons) - they are the reason for my freedom!

8 THINGS I'VE LEARNED THIS PAST YEAR

1) That not everyone who calls themself a "friend" really is.

2) The people I can really count on.

3) How to scrapbook.

4) That there are still GOOD churches out there; it can just take some time to find them. Thank goodness my search is over.

5) That memories live FOREVER!

6) That time heals NOTHING!

7) That "things" aren't nearly as important as time spent with others.

8) That you can be completely honest with someone, have a disagreement & still walk away feeling better than you did before you opened your mouth.

A Little Interview

Pulled this little meme off of The Furry Diva's blog.

What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now? Not a fan of bar soap, so I use body wash. Typically, it's some product from Bath & Body Works. Right now, it's White Cherry Blossom.

Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator? No.

What would you change about your living room? Pretty much EVERYTHING. Almost everything I have is hand-me-down items from friends & family. I've never had new living room (or any other room, for that matter) furniture, so I want new furniture that actually matches.

Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty? Clean, which is SHOCKING!!!

What is in your fridge? I'm single, so it's definitely a single's fridge . . . let's see . . . milk, bottled water, tea, butter, sliced cheese, cold cuts, coffee creamer, cream cheese. I think that's about it!!!

White or wheat bread? White, though I actually prefer sourdough.

What is on top of your refrigerator? Cookbook stand & cookbook (neither of which I use . . . EVER), pill bottles (vitamins, aspirin, etc.), box of trash bags, cereal boxes, box of ziploc bags, etc.

What color or design is on your shower curtain? Master Bath - purples & greens/dragonflies; Guest Bath - white, pink, mauve, green & roses. I have new ones for both bathrooms, but just haven't put them out yet.

How many plants are in your home? A few dead ones and a couple of fake ones (these are the only ones worth having around my house).

Is your bed made right now? Yes, surprisingly!

Comet or Soft Scrub? Comet.

Is your closet organized? I like to refer to it as an organized mess. But, I think it's fairly organized. You can actually walk in it, so I consider that organized. HA!

Can you describe your flashlight? Currently - it's missing! That's about all I can tell you. It's been so long since I've seen it, I can't remember.

Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home? Plastic.

Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now? Always!

If you have a garage, is it cluttered? I don't have a garage, but I can guarantee you, if I did, it WOULD be cluttered.

Curtains or blinds? Blinds.

How many pillows do you sleep with? Four.

Do you sleep with any lights on at night? No. It MUST be pitch black for me to fall asleep.

How often do you vacuum? Not often enough. At least once a week. I'm never home, so how dirty can it get. :-)

Standard toothbrush or electric? Standard.

What color is your toothbrush? Blue.

Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch? Yes.

What is in your oven right now? Nothing other than the pizza stone & rack.

Is there anything under your bed? Just one of those organizing boxes with wrapping paper, ribbon, tape, scissors, gift tags, gift bags, tissue paper, etc.

Chore you hate doing the most? Basically, anything in the bathroom - toilets, tubs, etc.

What retro items are in your home? Not a whole lot of retro in my house.

Do you have a separate room that you use as an office? I have a separate room that I want to use as an office, but it's currently my "junk room."

How many mirrors are in your home? Probably about 10.

Do you have any hidden emergency money around your home? Yes.

What color are your walls? Khaki, except for the bathrooms, which are kind of a sage green color.

Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home? No. Believe me . . . they'd bring me back!!!

What does your home smell like right now? Not @ home right now. But, currently, it's very apple smelling. I have the Bath & Body Works room spray and the plug-ins. It's very fall smelling. I LOVE it!

Favorite candle scent? That's a hard one. From Bath & Body Works - Bartlett Pear, Sparkling Cranberry, Apple. From Yankee Candle - Christmas Cookie, Clean Cotton. From Partylite -pineapple & pomegranate, yuzu & lime, red tea & sweet flag, wild fern, holiday spices, candy cane & sugared fruits. Can you tell I LOVE candles??!!

What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now? Pickles . . . YUCK!

What color is your favorite Bible? Dark green.
Ever been on your roof? No.

Do you own a stereo? Yes.

How many TVs do you have? Four.

How many house phones? Two. And, that's two too many. Nobody ever calls me - except telemarketers and wrong numbers.

Do you have a housekeeper? No, but I wish I did.

What style do you decorate in? I don't know what my style would be considered. I guess "hodge podge style." :-)

Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints? Both.

Is there a smoke detector in your home? Absolutely!

In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip? See my 15 Minutes & 10 Things Post.

Now, here are a few people I'd like to interview:

  5. From the above four questions, what two answers have changed the most? Most definitely #4 and #2.

Big 4-0

Pirated this from another blog I read. A little different from the "norm." Enjoy! Maybe you'll get a REAL blog post over the weekend!

The BIG 4-0
  1. You're in the hospital, who comes to visit you? Gosh, I don't even want to think about that because I DON'T want to be in the hospital. But, I would suppose my family, close friends & maybe my co-workers and church friends.
  2. If alcohol were banned, what would your reaction be? I'd be wondering why!
  3. Your CD collection is repossessed. What's your reaction? You better give it back to me RIGHT NOW! I can't live without my tunes.
  4. Do you believe world peace is possible? I think anything is possible, but it's going to take everyone putting forth the effort in order to make it happen.
  5. I'm a genie. Name your wish. Make me debt-free & give me a little cushion in the bank so I don't have to worry ALL THE TIME about finances.
  6. Name one thing about the opposite sex that automatically turns you off? Arrogance.

This Week's "Friday Feast"

Here's this week's Friday Feast.

Appetizer: Using only one word, how does grocery shopping make you feel? Annoyed!

Soup: What is your favorite part about the season of Autumn? Autumn is my favorite season! I love watching the leaves change color. I love the crisp, cool air - not too hot, not too cold. I love nights where I can sit with my windows & patio door open. Oh, I can't wait! It's almost here!

Salad: Have you ever had any bad experiences online? No.

Main Course: Name three things that make you happy daily. (1) My family, (2) my friends, and (3) all that I've been blessed with.

Dessert: What one household cleansing or organizing item would you not want to be without? I love the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It's great for cleaning lots of things + it gets rid of skuff marks, etc.

"Want To"s for My Life

Okay, so here's another one of those prompted topics that I've actually been working on for a while now, but have just now finished. Here's the topic/question . . . WRITE A LIST OF 25 THINGS YOU WANT TO DO IN YOUR LIFE.

So, here goes (and, these are in no particular order):
  1. Be debt-free
  2. Buy a home
  3. Finish my degree (this would be easily accomplished if Tech would offer the final 3 classes I need at night)
  4. Overcome my fear of public speaking
  5. Have a minimum of $5,000 in savings at all times
  6. Get my house in order (and the way I want it) & keep it that way
  7. Take a photography class (or two)
  8. Learn another language and be able to speak it fluently (I gave Spanish a try, but I think I'd like to learn German, French, Greek or Italian)
  9. Go on a "girls only" vacation with friends
  10. Do something great in my daddy's memory
  11. Take piano lessons again (I need a refresher + more lessons)
  12. Learn CPR
  13. Foreign travel - specifically Greece, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Scotland & Australia
  14. U.S. travel - specifically Seattle, San Antonio, Chicago, Las Vegas, the Pacific Northwest, Vermont & Maine
  15. Take an art class (or two)
  16. Be able to pay for Bubby's college education (or at least help out)
  17. Take classes to become certified as a court reporter/transcriber
  18. Take a trip alone once a year to "reflect" and "recharge"
  19. Do more volunteer work
  20. Meet the man of my dreams & get married (but, ONLY if it's God's will)
  21. Have children (but, ONLY if it's God's will)
  22. Get back involved on a full-time basis with church
  23. Do a random act of kindness at least once per week (pay for someone's meal/coffee/etc., let someone step ahead of you in line, help an elderly person or a mother with their hands full with groceries, etc.)
  24. Blog at least weekly about something meaningful
  25. Make my friends & family proud

Okay, so that's my list. Some of them might seem silly to you, but these are all things that are "want tos" for my life. What are yours????

Until next time . . .

$25

A short little "thought provoker" from That's My Answer.

The question is . . . If you found yourself with an extra $25, how would you spend it? What about an extra $100?

My answer . . .

$25 - A coffee, a book & a CD
$100 - A "mini" spa day - maybe a manicure & a pedicure or a massage.

What about you?

15 Minutes & 10 Things

I found this pretty interesting website that will generate prompts that are supposed to "provoke" creativity, thought & imagination for your blogging experience. While most days I have something to blog about, some days I need a little "prompt," as I'm sure we all do. You can go here Creativity Portal - Imagination Prompt for the prompt generator. There are other resources available on the website, too.

Here is the prompt I got today:

If I had 15 minutes to evacuate my home before it was to be destroyed by a hurricane, what 10 things would I grab (not including people or pets)

  1. Daddy's "memory" box (ashes, photos, etc.)
  2. Glass container of preserved/dried roses (from daddy's memorial service)
  3. Engraved crystal box with preserved/dried roses from MaMa's (grandmother) funeral
  4. Laptop
  5. Photos - albums, framed, etc.
  6. Journals
  7. Framed collage of daddy that mom did for me for Christmas last year (it has a dollar bill that was one of $2 in his wallet when he died; Jeffrey got the other one in his collage)
  8. Crystal pickle dish that my great aunt gave me (she said that it was a gift from me to her & my great uncle on their 50th wedding anniversary & that she wanted to hand it back down to me
  9. Artwork that Bubby, C & H have done for me (I save the majority of these pieces & display them on my fridge and/or memory boards)
  10. Items that belonged to MaMa (grandmother) that I got when she died

So, there's my list. This was harder than I thought it would be - at least, to come up with a list of 10. I came up with about 1/2 very quickly, but really had to think about the other 1/2. I'd love to read your list, so feel free to "pirate" this post and do your own on your blog.

Have a GREAT week!!!!

I've Been TAGGED

I was tagged by my friend Alison with this quiz about high school. That was soooooo long ago! But, here goes . . .

  1. Who was your best friend? Amy Mahon, Angel Grant, April Robinson
  2. Did you play any sports? Goodness NO!!!
  3. What kind of car did you drive? I didn't
  4. It’s Friday night. Where were you? If I wasn't working, I was usually hanging out with friends from church - their house, lock-ins, etc. I wasn't the typical high school football attender. It just wasn't (and still isn't) my thing.
  5. Were you a party animal? No
  6. Were you considered a flirt? No. I was far too shy to go out on that limb. Now . . . not so much!!
  7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir? No
  8. Were you a nerd? Yeah, and probably still am!!
  9. Were you ever suspended or expelled? No
  10. Can you sing the fight song? If I had a moment to think about it, I probably could. It's been a while!
  11. Who was your favorite teacher? Ms. Miller (Honors Physical Science teacher) - I bombed the class & had to retake it, but she was a great teacher, was very encouraging & always believed in me.
  12. What was your school mascot? Berea Bulldogs
  13. Did you go to the Prom? No and even though people told me I would regret it, I don't.
  14. If you could go back, would you? Oh, absolutely NOT!!!!
  15. What do you remember most about graduation? Being so happy that the day had finally arrived & that chapter in my life was over (or at least, I thought it was). I thought life would be so much easier afterwards - - - nice thought, but NOT the case!!!
  16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day? A bunch of us went to the Big Clock of Westcliffe and just rode around. Real exciting, huh?
  17. Did you have a job your senior year? No
  18. Where did you go most often for lunch? Courtyard my 1st two years and then to the yearbook room my last two years, since I was on staff and always had work to do.
  19. Have you gained weight since then? Mercy, YES!!!
  20. What did you do after graduation? Went to college but quit after a year. Just been working ever since, but did go back to college for my paralegal degree & am 3 classes short of finishing (one day . . . when Tech decides to offer the classes I need at night).
  21. What year did you graduate? 1994
  22. Who was your Senior Prom Date? Didn't go to prom.
  23. Are you going/did you go to your 10 year reunion? I didn't go. But, I think only 15 or 16 people showed up, so I apparently didn't miss much.
  24. What is your biggest regret in high school? Not putting myself "out there" a little more. I was so shy that I just didn't take the time to get to know people and just be myself. I probably missed out on a lot of things because of that.

    I tag
    Rebecca!!!!
