Friday . . . A Few Days Late

I didn't get to participate in the Friday memes that I always enjoy doing because I was neck-deep in boxes and getting ready for the move over the weekend. I'd love to say it's all done, but it's not. But, the bulk of it has been accomplished. Now, I will just go grab a load or two every evening until it's all out of the condo. Thankfully, I have until the end of the June to turn in the key.

I spent this evening doing laundry & organizing the closet. It's nice to have a clean slate to start with. I vowed to myself over the weekend . . . I WILL stay organized - I WILL keep things in their place - I WILL keep the new place tidy & in order - I WILL designate a day every week to cleaning and stick to it - I WILL get rid of my 'hoarding' qualities & throw things away when they're not needed. I hope I can stick to the commitment.

FRIDAY FIVE

  1. What were some of the smells and tastes of your childhood? Smells - home cooked meals @ my grandmother's house; Tastes - hand churned homemade ice cream. I'm sure there are others, but I just can't think of any others off the top of my head.
  2. What did you have as a child that you do not think children today have? Lots of time spent outside playing. I can remember my parents saying "Yall get outside and don't let us see your faces until we call you in for the evening." We would play for hours outside - catching lightning bugs, building forts, climbing trees, etc. Today, children spend most of their time in front of the TV or some gaming system. I think that's a shame.
  3. What elementary grade was your favorite? 3rd grade was my favorite because the teacher I had (Mrs. Campbell) was my favorite one throughout elementary school & I just remember having so much fun & learning so much in her class.
  4. What summer do you remember the best as a child? I don't remember how old I was, but the summer I remember most vividly was when we went to Myrtle Beach with another family. I remember seeing a huge group of sharks swimming close to the shore & that was such a big deal to me! We went to Myrtle Beach every summer from the time I was 6 weeks old until I was about 16 or 17, so it's hard to remember which year was which.
  5. What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self, and at what age? Don't put so much pressure on yourself to try to please everyone all the time. It's just not possible!!! The sooner I told myself this, the better, so I guess maybe around the age of 8 or 9.

THROW YOUR LOVE AROUND

  1. Last laugh? A few minutes ago while I was watching Will & Grace [always a guaranteed laugh].
  2. What do you love? My life!!! I truly am blessed!!
  3. Gold or silver? Silver.
  4. Who do you hold hands with? My nephew!
  5. Friday fill-in: There's no time to ____. There's no time to relax [most days].

There wasn't a Friday's Feast this week, but one of the players (Tina) posted some questions, so I'm going to answer those.

Appetizer: Wii, Playstation or XBox? I'm not a 'gamer,' but I suppose I'd choose the Wii, since it's all the rage these days. That Wii Fitness actually looks pretty cool.

Soup: Would you ever go skydiving? Absolutely NOT!!!

Salad: Name a sequel that you think is better than the original movie. Meet the Fockers. I loved Meet the Parents, but thought the sequel was much better.

Main Course: Share your most wonderful birthday celebration. I've had many wonderful birthday celebrations, but I would have to say that my most recent would be the party that my friend, Lyn, threw at her house for me several years ago. It was great to have a wonderful meal & hang out with all of my closest friends & family!

Dessert: If you dare, post a picture of yourself making a silly face. I don't have any pictures of me making a silly face & my camera is packed away in some box . . . so . . . I'll pass this time around.

Alrighty, that does it for the Friday memes this week. Feel free to play along if you want. Just post a comment & let me know so that I can head over to your blog & check out your answers.

Have a GREAT week!!!

I'm all about getting rid of things I don't use. It's just a great feeling when everything is cleaned out!
