Part 2 - You've Got to Be Kidding Me

Well, hallelujah! Someone stepped up and did the right thing, for once. I just read that the NFL has suspended Michael Vick indefinitely without pay. They have also given the Atlanta Falcons the "go ahead" to recover $22 million that represents the signing bonus in his contract.

What I love most is that the NFL commissioner didn't wait until Monday, when Vick will officially enter his plea in court, to make his decision. And, I especially love the fact that the commissioner said in his letter to Vick . . . "You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy. I hope that you will be able to learn from this difficult experience and emerge from it better prepared to act responsibly and to make the kinds of choices that are expected of a conscientious and law abiding citizen." AMEN, Commissioner Goodell, AMEN!!!!

NFL Suspends Vick After Plea Agreement

I hope, after all this is said and done, that this indefinite suspension becomes one of permanency, and Mr. Vick finally gets to experience what it's like to be a caged animal. I hope that he will learn from his mistakes and comes out a better person. But, I hope he now (or will) realize that participating in such reprehensible acts is NOT okay and that even the wealthiest of the wealthy aren't exempt from suffering the consequences for their choices.

In a world where Lindsay Lohan escapes prison time after possessing cocaine, driving drunk, putting people's lives in danger, etc. and Nicole Richie spends 82 minutes in jail for doing close to the same thing, I hope that Mr. Vick will become an example to the rest of the high society folks and spend a little more than half an hour in prison and that playing professional football will become a "pasttime" for him. We'll see!

While this situation is not a laughing matter, in the least bit, I wanted to post a cartoon that I received via email this week. It paints a picture of the ideal jury for Vick!!!

So, we'll see what happens!!!!
